The Kohima Educational Trust is delighted to present this webinar with Dr Robert Lyman MBE and guest speaker Mark Green, author of The Burma Campaign VCs.
This talk on the Burma Campaign VCs, based on the book of the same name, will tell the story of the Fourteenth Army's wrestling back control of Burma from the Imperial Japanese Army between 1942-1945.
We'll hear some of the 29 stories featured in the book - of men from a wide range of nationalities from across the British Empire, whose gallantry during the Burma Campaign saw them awarded the highest honour for valour: the Victoria Cross. Sadly, some of the men paid the ultimate sacrifice for their actions.
In this presentation, Mark will narrate a number these men's stories. We'll hear about their backgrounds, their previous service and their heroic actions which led to the award of the Victoria Cross.
As Dr Robert Lyman MBE states on the back of Mark's book: "In the words of Pericles, these men knew their duty, and did it. Green has carefully recounted the context in which these men were awarded the greatest of all British and Imperial awards, many of them doing so posthumously. They must never be forgotten."
